ISSDC Show - Brookville, PA
May 24/25, 2008

The show will be held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Hazen Pennsylvania. This lovely venue sits at the intersection of Exit #81 of Interstate 80 and Route 28 approximately 1 mile east of Brookville, PA.

Dates are Saturday May 24 & Sunday May 25, 2008, but you can come in and set up on Friday anytime.

This will be a Rarities/NAKC show, you may read their information at this link http://www.raritiesinc.ca/shows/brookville.htm

Last year the local horse club had a nice selection of reasonably priced food and beverage available the entire weekend. I think they will be there again. Judy, would you please confirm this? Also, our Canadian ISSDC club members usually put on a BBQ of some sort on Saturday afternoon for a reasonable price, with proceeds going to the ISSDC-Canada breed rescue.

There will be 5 shows this weekend, 3 shows Saturday and 2 Sunday. The shows start at 10 AM. There will be day of show entries up until 9:30 AM both days. Pre-entries close on May 11, information can be viewed on the Rarities website link above.

There will be two specialty's for the Shiloh Shepherds. The Rarities Shiloh Specialty will be Saturday afternoon, and the ISSDC Shiloh Specialty will be Sunday morning.

At the ISSDC Specialty on Sunday morning, we will offer:

  1. Stud Class - for a sire and one or more of his progeny (no charge)
  2. Brood Bitch Class - for a dam and one or more of her progeny (no charge)
  3. Junior Veteran Class - for Champions of Record that are 5, 6, 7, 8 years old and are retired from the show ring. May be neutered/spayed.
  4. Senior Veteran Class - for Champions of Record ages 9 and above who are retired from the show ring. May be neutered/spayed.
  5. Companion Dog class - for all of our wonderful Shilohs who don't indulge in the breed ring but want to strut their stuff.
  6. Companion and Veteran Classes (no charge)

Saturday evening one (1) hour after the end of the show, we will have our ISSDC Membership Meeting. This should give us enough time to take a breath and feed our furkids. The meeting will be held at Plyler's Buffet & Family Restaurant which is located at Exit #78 and Route 36 in Brookville. The buffet is great, and the cost is reasonable. I believe beer and wine are available. This restaurant is in the same area as all of the Motels. We've booked a room for 50 people but if more show up, that's great. You can come and have dinner or just attend the meeting. The new Board of Directors will be formally announced and take office at this meeting!!

We WILL have a raffle this year for our ISSDC Breed Rescue. We will take any donations for nice things to raffle off. We will run the raffle the same way we did a few years back. We will put a can in front of the items to be raffled, people can buy strips of tickets and put their tickets in for the various individual items they're interested in. THE RAFFLE WILL GO OFF BETWEEN SHOWS ON SUNDAY and you must be present to win. Tickets will be sold during the entire weekend. Things donated can include anything :-) . In the past we've had items such as beautiful wine baskets, really cool baskets of dog items, a bunch of gently used wolf t-shirts that the donator didn't wear anymore, some wedding gift items that weren't used and were still in the box, handmade quilts, handmade needlepoint pillows, a box of gently used Christmas stuff, catalog gift certificates, jewelry, ANY THING at all!! If anyone would like to make a cash donation, we could raffle off a twenty dollar bill too!! HEY we'll even try raffling off the entire set of video tapes that Lori James donated two years ago LOL. Judy, we still have them, right? You can bring your donations with you, or if
you'd like to mail something up front, please let us know. Our club Secretary John and his wife Laurie live close and I'm sure wouldn't mind taking the items ahead of time.

Is anyone interested in doing Adult Temperament Tests or CGC's with gunfire on Friday evening?? We could easily arrange that.

We will announce our 2007 Grand Victor, Grand Victrix, and National Selects after the ISSDC Specialty on Sunday.

Please, if anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask here!! We have tons of people who have attended this show for years, and can off all types of assistance. If you'd like to fly in, the closest airport is Dubois-Jefferson County Airport which is only up the road. I'm not sure they can handle big crates, but Pittsburgh International Airport can, and they're barely two hours away.

You can find info about the hotels by using the Rarities link above, or any search engine. Or ask here. Our show sometimes conflicts with another event in the area, so make your reservations ASAP.

Thank you, and hope to see you all there!!!
