Tantara Kennels

I first became interested in Shiloh Shepherds in 1995 while I was looking for a new dog to add to my household. I had only been exposed to pictures by an acquaintance while assisting with dog obedience classes up until January of 1997. I worked the first FORB show and was blown away as pictures did not do these dogs justice. I then arranged to get my first Shiloh Shepherd. I made my first solo long distance trip to eastern Pennsylvania to pick Dakota up from the breeder in April of ‘97. The idea was to get one, try conformation showing for 2 years and see how it all went. Well, Montana was added in September of that year from CJs. Bambam came to live here in December of that year, also from CJs, with Hammer following from Mason Dixon Kennels in January of 1998. My Shiloh Crew now consists of Dakota (Shep/Cheyenne, 1997), Bambam (Lakota/Tiffany, 1997), Hammer (Rebel/Phoebe, 1997), Evil (Hammer/Dakota, 1999), Hunter (Simon/Bailey, 2000), Kachina (Artie/Tuesday, 2002), and Phenix (Bullet/Abi, 2004) as well as T. Rex, my 11 year old neurotic Lab/Shepherd rescue.

Since that beginning there have been many firsts. I had never shown dogs prior to this, only horses, but conformation showing has become such an engrained passion in my life that I now handle dogs professionally and have taken many dogs of different breeds to various titles and championships. I had never traveled long distances on my own but now think nothing of traveling cross country. I never thought that my “family” and friends would extend beyond so many state and international boundaries, but it has!

My dogs are an integral part of the family. They can often be found nearest a family member or on any given piece of furniture. Litters are planned with a great deal of time and research. I do not take breeding lightly and feel responsible for each puppy produced here for the life of that dog. When puppies arrive, they are raised inside my home, central to where they will get the most socialization and exposure to normal everyday “life”, my dining room. I breed for temperament, health and structure with each puppy going to their new families with a detailed guarantee.
